Last day in Bangkok

-17 °C

Last night we thought it would be a good idea to book a morning tour to the floating market - 6am start and we realised that was a silly idea!!

Check out of hotel minivan picks us up hour and a half journey to the market, photos to follow. Thought i'd bargained hard for a print from 1200 baht down to 500, stalls later on were selling them for 200 - fleeced!

Long tail bought along the river, I think I shold have got some of those jabs as the water that we were getting splashed with did not look to healthy!! Driver spots a big ass lizard/crocodile, which we watch for a little while.

Head back towards Bangkok, or so we think, giving us plenty of time to catch our flight to Phuket midafternoon but driver stops at snake farm. In the excitement let the guy drape a massive snake around my neck, realising after what i've let myself in for (when you see the video you'll understand!!). Watch snake show, crazy stuff!!

Just arrived in Phuket, monsoon season, so was raining hard!Think we may do a cookery course tomor morning if the rain persists, 3 girls joining us tomor so think some partying may be in order aswell.

Signing off heading for some fooooddd xxx

Bangkok Day 2

So our luggage arrived today which meant showers and fresh clothes, much relief! Decide to move from New world lodge hotel to D&D inn on Khao San Rd, closer to the action and a rooftop pool which is always appreciated! After some strolling up and down the market stalls (again!), getting a little henna tatoo on my ankle (i will never get a tatoo - after 5 mins I decided I wasn't a fan of my choice!!), bump in someone from back home.

Decide to visit Grand Palace, by time we find the place (stopping for some sushi from a market stall on the way)its closed so we head back to Khao San for an hour foot massage, cue Elena in a LOT of pain!

Decide to visit different area of bangkok - main centre called MBK food hall inside where I had the best meal of my life, king prawn tempura (these prawns were the size of my hand!) and chicken teriaki, Elena tucked into a sushi rice bowl total cost of the meal 5 pounds

Market stall on khao san that adds albums to ipod for 50p each so after much slagging about my music choices I try to update!!

Home for snoozies, get woken up by the rest of the girls at drunken up in chang mai, they just completed a 2 day trek, which in their words only good "if you can run like 5 marathons"!

Love to all xxx

Day 1

overcast 27 °C

We made the most the first day by indulging in a mass amount of self- pampering. In total we got about 4 hours of pampering: Thai massage, manicure, pedicure and facial, but we deserved it after the long flight and loss of luggage!! Hit the shops on Khao San Rd and quickly adapt to the cheap prices.

After pampering and strolling around the streets of bangkok, munching on an array of street eats - mango, sour mango (awful!) and freshly cut pineapple we decide that something more substantial is in order head to lovely restaurant and tuck into fried rice with chicken, shrimps and cashew nuts all served in a half hollowed out pineapple!!

After munchies we jump in a tuk tuk, i'm still alive, with a stern warning to driver to drive carefully - to which he laughed and sped off in the direction of Chinatown. Chinatown is not the best place to visit when you've just eaten so much freshly cooked yummy looking foodm, Mum you would of loved it - fish tanks with king prawns, lobster, crabs and mussels ready to be handpicked, butchered, cooked then munched on.

After a stroll around head back to Khao San Road evening massage to get us ready for bed then back to the hotel.
